Job Classification: Firefighter / EMT Paramedic
The Pembroke Pines Fire Department is seeking to establish an eligibility list for the position of Firefighter/EMT! All candidates must take the FireTEAM exam and the CPAT through the National Testing Network for consideration to enter the hiring process.
The fire department requires the candidate to complete the Public Safety Self-Assessment (PSSA). You can access the questionnaire through your candidate account. NTN suggests completing the PSSA as soon as possible so there is not a delay in your process.
**Priority will be given to State of Florida Certified Paramedics**
Position: Firefighter
Job Classification: Firefighter / EMT Paramedic
Duties: Under general supervision of a Captain or Lieutenant, is responsible for extinguishing fires, rescuing persons, and protecting property from danger. Duties will require them to perform life-saving rescue techniques as part of other emergency operations.
Base Salary Information: $ 50,069
- Firefighter/EMT- $50,069 - $84,938
- Firefighter/ Paramedic- $59,829 - $94,673
State of Florida Paramedic License: The base salary of a Firefighter/EMT with a valid Paramedic License will include an additional $4,500, and upon successful completion of the protocol test, the employee will receive an additional $4,500 increase.
As a condition of employment, Firefighter/EMTs must obtain the State of Florida Paramedic license within thirty-six (36) months from the hire date.

Employment Eligibility Instructions: Candidates are selected through National Testing Network (NTN). To register with the National Testing Network (NTN) and schedule a pre-employment exam go to the National Testing Network site. Select ‘Find Jobs’, then select Firefighter Jobs and sign up for Pembroke Pines Fire Rescue Department.
When you visit the National Testing Network
- Complete the NTN registration process and schedule your exam.
- Review all information related to the Pembroke Pines Fire Rescue Department Firefighter, including minimum requirements, salary and benefits.
- Review detailed information about the exam process and frequently asked questions.
- An online practice exam is available on the NTN website (if desired)
Upon completing your scheduled pre-employment exam, the scores are automatically forwarded to the Pembroke Pines Fire Rescue Department. Candidates who pass the exam will be placed on the Pembroke Pines Fire Rescue Department eligibility list. Those on the list will be contacted to participate in further stages of the selection process.

Requirements
Applications will be provided to the candidate upon completion of the oral interview, which must be completed and returned with the following documents:
- Birth certificate
- Valid Florida Driver's License
- Candidate Physical Abilities Test (CPAT) and FireTEAM test from National Testing Network
- Bureau of Fire Standards & Training Certificate of Compliance
- EVOC- Emergency Vehicle Operator Course
- Copy of DD-214 if applicable
- High School Graduate or GED
- State of Florida EMT or paramedic license
During the recruitment period, applicants meeting the above requirements will be scheduled for the following City of Pembroke Pines Fire Department hiring process.
