The City of Pembroke Pines Recreation and Cultural Arts Department will be hosting a Caribbean-American Heritage Festival on Saturday, June 29, 2024, 6 pm-10 pm at the Charles F. Dodge City Center, located at 601 City Center Way. This family-friendly event will feature live music, performances, and a showcase of food and goods. As part of the Festival, The Frank C. Ortis Art Gallery will offer lectures, workshops, and arts and crafts for the entire family. There is also entertainment on the Plaza including the Lauderhill Street Ensemble & Dynamic Rhythms Tassa Band; Roger George; and Visions Band to name just a few.
Free activities at The Frank include: 6 - 7 pm Discussions with South Florida based artist Shawna Moulton and Curator Tiera Ndlovu on Caribbean Art; from 7 pm to 8 pm guests can learn about Afro-Futurecasting from artist Carol-Anne McFarlane before creating a personal Afro-Futurist-inspired vision board. Space is limited to 20 participants for this workshop and registration can be done at The Frank’s front desk during the Caribbean American Heritage Festival. And, there is so much more.
