The City of Pembroke Pines will be performing a chlorination preventive maintenance procedure on our Water Distribution System. The procedure will run for three (3) weeks from MARCH 22^nd, 2026, until APRIL 12^th, 2026.  During this period, the City’s Drinking Water Distribution System will continue to meet ALL Federal and State water quality standards. You may notice a slight chlorine taste and/or chlorine odor in the water. Residents on kidney dialysis or those who have other medical conditions are advised to consult their healthcare providers for guidance on managing the temporary chemical change in the water.  Fish owners should also take necessary precautions during this procedure. 

Additionally, you may see water being flushed from fire hydrants in your neighborhood. This is a part of the normal maintenance process. Members of the Carl Shechter Southwest Focal Point Community Center and 22 students from the Pembroke Pines Charter High School will get into the Olympic spirit on April 8 from 10:45 am to 11:45 am in the Center’s Main Hall for the 2nd Annual Senior Olympics. All are invited to attend this fun competition that will include games such as Ping Pong Ball Basketball, Corn Hole, Face the Cookie, Basketball, Stack the Solo Cups and more. In partnership with Republic Services, who will provide household hazardous waste drop off events for Pembroke Pines residents, drop off events will be held quarterly at the City’s wastewater treatment plant located at 13975 Pembroke Road. The next drop-off is scheduled for March 28, 2026. City of Pembroke Pines residents must bring proof of Pembroke Pines residency to use the drop-off services. The City of Pembroke Pines Annual Egg Hunts will be held on Saturday, April 4 in two locations: Pines Recreation Center at 7400 Pines Blvd, and Pembroke Shores Park at 501 SW 172 Ave. This is a free event, sponsored by Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital, for children ages 12 and under.  Gates open at 9:30 am and the hunts begin sharply at 10 am.  They will feature over 29,000 eggs at each location (58,000 eggs). At both locations the fields will be divided by age and there will be all sorts of fun activities, face painting, bounce houses, games, prizes and an opportunity to visit the with Peter Rabbit. Children should bring their own baskets for the egg hunt. Registration is now open for The City of Pembroke Pines Little Miss Sweetheart & Miss Pembroke Pines pageants for girls ages 3-16 years old. All contestants must be Pembroke Pines residents and be pre-registered by Wednesday, April 15, 2026. The Royal Court Pageant will be held on Thursday, April 23, 2026 with rehearsals at 6:00 PM and the pageant at 6:30 PM. Joins us for a chance to be crowned this year’s Little Miss Sweetheart or Miss Pembroke Pines at the 66th Pines Day Birthday Celebration.

Little Miss Sweetheart - Ages 3-5  and   Miss Pembroke Pines - Ages 6-8 | 9-12 | 13-16

As part of an ongoing series, parents/guardians of school-age children, community members, educators and youth advocates are invited to a special presentation, “Raising Positive Children: Building Strong Digital Citizens in a Connected World.” The featured guest speaker will be author and educator George Couros and will be held at the River of Grass Theater, located at 17195 Sheridan Street. It will take place on Monday, April 6, 2026 at 6:30 pm. Couros is an Innovative Teaching, Learning and Leadership consultant, speaker, educator, author of  “The Innovator’s Mindset” and “Innovate Inside the Box,” and co-owner of IMPress Books. As part of his presentation, Couros will speak on the topic that technology isn’t just something children consume, but rather it’s a space where they can create, connect and make a difference. The keynote shifts the focus from fear to possibility, highlighting real examples of young people using digital tools to build their futures and serve others.   Parents will gain practical strategies for promoting strong digital citizenship, addressing online risks, setting healthy boundaries and confidently guiding their child’s digital journey.

1st Annual Pembroke Pines Charter School Foundation Pickleball Classic, hosted by the Pembroke Pines Charter School Foundation, is Saturday, April 18, 2026 ,7:30 AM – 8:00 PM, at  Paul J. Maxwell Park, located at 1200 SW 72 Ave.
