Community On Patrol
This program allows our trained volunteers to be the “eyes and ears” of the department.
After additional training, our volunteers can go out on patrol in one of the marked COP vehicles with a partner and drive throughout the City's neighborhoods and shopping centers being a visible deterrent helping to prevent crime and assist the public when needed. Some jobs of our COP patrols include: standing by with overhead lights on when a vehicle is disabled in the roadway, assisting with directing traffic or pedestrians if needed, blocking roadways, and even participating in educational activities such as parades and safety presentations.
Parking Enforcement Specialists
Graduates of the Citizens Police Academy (CPA) and volunteer members of the Community on Patrol program can now take a state certified parking enforcement class and then start patrolling our city streets issuing parking enforcement tickets to violators of fire lane and handicapped parking spaces.
