Captain Javier Diaz has proudly served the City of Pembroke Pines since graduating from the 208th session of the Broward County Police Academy in 2001.  Prior to attending the police academy Captain Diaz served active duty in the United States Coast Guard for 4 years and currently continues to serve as an active reserve Special Agent for the Coast Guard Investigative Service.   

Captain Diaz served as a Patrol Officer, Field Force Officer, SWAT Operator, Assistant SWAT Team Leader, SWAT Logistics Coordinator, SWAT Training Coordinator, VIN Detective and Burglary Suppression Detective.  While serving as a SWAT Operator Captain Diaz became an instructor in the areas of General Instructor, Firearms, Less Lethal and Tactical Concepts.

Captain Diaz was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 2013.  During his time as a Sergeant he served as a Patrol Sergeant, General Investigations Sergeant, Economic Crimes Sergeant, SWAT Team Leader, Administrative Sergeant and Traffic Sergeant. He was subsequently promoted to the rank of Captain in 2020.

Captain Diaz is a graduate of the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center Criminal Investigation Training Program Indoctrination, the Federal Law Enforcement Leadership Academy, and is currently enrolled in the NTOA Command College. 

Captain Diaz has received numerous commendations and awards during his tenure including a lifesaving award.

Captain Diaz has previously overseen the Special Operations Division which encompasses the Tech Team. the Drive Team, the K-9 Unit, the Traffic Unit, the Dive Team, Field Force, and Honor Guard.  He is currently assigned to Charlie Shift (Team 6) Road Patrol, as well as the Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT) and the Crisis Response Team.
