Stop, Snap and Share Your #CityHallSelfies
Pembroke Pines, FL (August 1, 2018) – Get your selfie stick ready. For one day on August 15, 2018, the City of Pembroke Pines, along with the Florida League of Cities and cities across the country, is participating in a national event called #CityHallSelfie Day. Spearheaded by the Engaging Local Government Leaders (ELGL) organization, the event was created to encourage residents to show their spirit by stopping by their city hall or a government building, posing for a selfie and sharing it on social media to not only show pride in their city, but also win recognition and bragging rights.
“This is a really fun way to show everyone how special the residents of Pembroke Pines are and why we love them,” said Mayor Frank C. Ortis. “I encourage everyone to come out to our beautiful City Center and take a selfie – we have the Commission Chambers, the front of City Center that is home to our City Hall, and a great photo spot on the northwest corner for the perfect selfie.”
Residents should share their photos using #CityHallSelfie and tag @FLCities in sharing their selfies on social media. Pembroke Pines also has a Special Events Facebook page where residents can post their photos. Striking a pose can mean winning a mention in the Florida League of Cities "Quality Cities" magazine and being digitally recognized in various categories including Best Dressed City Hall Selfie; Best City Hall Selfie featuring an Animal or Mascot; and Pembroke Pines can also be recognized for having the most selfies taken that day.
Between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., residents may also be able to take their selfies with the Mayor and Commissioners. The Charles F. Dodge City Center is located at 601 City Center Way. More fun details will be posted on the City's website at www.ppines.com, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. For more information, please go to http://elgl.org/city-hall-selfie/
