Four Student Artists Recognized
Pembroke Pines Charter Middle School West Campus

 

Pembroke Pines FL… November 8, 2017… Four artists from the Pembroke Pines Charter Middle School West Campus were recognized during a “Capital Art” reception at the Young At Art Museum on October 26, 2017. 
 
Dina Sangiovani, Middle Art Teacher at PPCS West Campus submitted the artwork of four students Brianna Duran 7^th grade, Zayna Diaz 8^th grade and Emilee Zhou 7^th grade and Isabella C. Rodriguez 8^th grade for consideration in the annual statewide “Art in the Capitol” competition.
 
“Each of our students' work was accepted by the art jury. The students were honored at a ceremony at the Young at Art Museum where their artwork is on display and they met artists from all over Broward County,” stated Karina Raimont, Curriculum Specialist at the Pembroke Pines Charter Middle School West Campus. The students also met YAA Executive Director Mindy Shrago and Broward County Art Curriculum Supervisor Donna C. Haynes.
 
Countywide all artwork submissions were evaluated through an art jury process, those judged Best in Show will be on display in Tallahassee, Florida later this year.  The “Capital Art “exhibition runs until November 27, 2017 at the Young  At Art Museum 751 SW 121^st Avenue Davie FL… 33325.  
 
Additional Information:
In 2016, the Florida Legislature passed and Governor Rick Scott signed House Bill 701 related to “Art in the Capitol” competition. The “Art in the Capitol” competition is an annual statewide visual arts competition requiring each school district to hold an art competition for all students grades in sixth through eighth.  Prizes are awarded and the Best of Show selection is sent to Tallahassee to be exhibited in the Capital building.
