Pembroke Pines, FL…October 25, 2017….On October 25, 2017 Pembroke Pines residents and business owners braved thunderstorms to meet and have “Coffee with the Mayor” in the Lobby of the City of Pembroke Pines Charles F. Dodge City Center, an event held to recognize Florida City Government Week.

The 2017 theme “Pembroke Pines:  I’m Part of It, I’m Proud of it,” provided a platform for residents and officials discuss growth in Pembroke Pines.  “Today we stand in the Lobby of our beautiful new City Center,” said Pembroke Pines Mayor Frank C. Ortis, “We are all proud of the increased services and significant amenities our residents now enjoy. This building and the adjacent Commission Chambers and FRANK Art Gallery are excellent examples of government in action to benefit residents and business community.”

In addition to coffee, muffins and Danish, residents had one on one time with Pembroke Pines Mayor Frank C. Ortis and officials Vice Mayor Angelo Castillo, Commissioners Jay Schwartz and Ishmael Monroig and Pembroke Pines staff.  Conversations varied from those interested in becoming more involved in Pembroke Pines to native plantings in the city wetland areas.

Attendees, including Mayor Ortis put together their own Pembroke Pines swag bag from an offering of sunglasses, pens, cups and information about upcoming events.  “Throughout the week everyone is invited to participate in an on-line Pembroke Pines Trivia “Did You Know…?” by visiting the City of Pembroke Pines Facebook page www.facebook.com/cityofpembrokepines ,” said Francie Novo, Special Events Coordinator for the City of Pembroke Pines.  Enjoy highlights from Coffee with the Mayor by pasting this Pembroke Pines Media YouTube link:  https://youtu.be/yZCvFyYATTw  in your browser.
