City of Pembroke Pines Hurricane Irma Update
The MANDATORY BOIL WATER ADVISORY has been RESCINDED (lifted) for all residents of Pembroke Pines
Pembroke Pines, FL…September 16, 2017…5:50pm... The City of Pembroke Pines staff and crews continue the lengthy process of Hurricane Irma clearing and restoration. The most up to date progress is released to all media outlets and posted on the City Website www.ppines.com, www.facebook.com/cityofpembrokepines, Pines Media - Channel 78, Twitter - @CITY_PPines .
The MANDATORY BOIL WATER ADVISORY has been RESCINDED (lifted) for all residents of Pembroke Pines.
Due to the impact of Hurricane Irma, three new well pumps were assumed struck by lightning. As a result of low water pressure, the plant was shut down. In addition to the well-pumps being inoperable, several water main line breaks contributed to the inability to provide sufficient water supply. The cities of Cooper City, Sunrise, and Miramar agreed to open the interconnect to get water back into the system of which we are very grateful.
Emergency efforts and new pumps put the wells back on line as of 2:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 12, 2017. The water plant is now activated and water service has been restored. Residents no longer need to boil water.
Please continue to call 911 if in need of emergency services. We thank you for your patience. If you have any questions, you may contact the City of Pembroke Pines at 954-392-9443.
