Pembroke Pines, FL… August 28, 2017…. The sixty plus crowd auditioning for a spot on the Miami HEAT Golden Oldies Dance Team brought hip, funk and cool dance moves to an entirely new level during auditions at the Carl Shechter Southwest Focal Point Community Center in Pembroke Pines!

Women and men arrived to the audition sporting the Miami HEAT team colors of red, black, and white, and several outfits included sequence and fringe.  Dancers warmed up, performed their best freestyle moves for judges, and learned dance routines from HEAT Golden Oldies Manager Shara Kiddy.

Then The Heat Was On, as potential Miami HEAT Golden Oldies shook shimmed and strutted their stuff for the judges.  Clara Stroude Vazquez, Marketing Manager for the HEAT, who also served as a judge and event emcee commented, “The judges were impressed by the energy and the talent exhibited during the audition. Unfortunately we can’t choose all of you, but there is always a chance next year!”

“There was serious talent competing for a spot on the 2017 – 18 Golden Oldies Dance Team,” said Jay Shechter Director of Community Services and Housing for the City of Pembroke Pines. “This group of women and men will certainly impress and invigorate the HEAT fans.

The Golden Oldies have been performing for the HEAT Nation for over 13 years and have a devoted following.  “The Miami HEAT Golden Oldies bring passion and energy to the AmericanAirlines Arena and the in-game experience,” said Clara Stroude-Vazquez, Miami HEAT Marketing Manager. “The Miami HEAT Golden Oldies have become the NBA’s most popular senior citizen dance team. All dancers must be at least 60 years of age and have flexible schedules for rehearsals, games, and appearances during the season.  For information about the Golden Oldies, please visit www.heat.com.
