Pembroke Pines, FL – (September 9, 2021) All are welcome to join The City of Pembroke Pines for the Annual 9-11 Patriot Day Remembrance Ceremony at the Pembroke Pines Memorial Park adjacent to the Charles F. Dodge City Center, located at 601 City Center Way in Pembroke Pines, this Saturday, September 11, 2021 from 8:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. A live feed of the ceremony will also be available on both the city’s Facebook and Instagram page. The event, which marks the 20th anniversary of the horrific events of September 11, 2001, is free and everyone is encouraged to attend.
The observance remembers and pays tribute to the nearly 3,000 people who lost their lives on this tragic day and America’s First Responders, the women and men who bravely faced the terror attacks on the Trade Center Towers, the Pentagon, and in Shanksville, PA. The program will include the Presentation of Colors by the City of Pembroke Pines Police and Fire Department Honor Guards, guest speakers and comments from City Officials.
All of those in attendance are encouraged to tour the statues that are part of the Memorial Park and meet the artist that contributed to ensuring this day is never forgotten.
This day is recognized by United States law as a National Day of Service and Remembrance and has been observed every year since that tragic day in 2001. Every year on Patriot Day or Nine-Eleven Day, flags are flown half-staff, and fellow Americans observe a moment of silence at 8:46 a.m. (Eastern Daylight Time) which marks the exact time that the first plane flew into the World Trade Center.
Lastly, As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to surge in the state of Florida, The City of Pembroke Pines encourages the wearing of facemasks and social distancing.
