Pines Village Water Main Replacement Phase II & Septic Tank Conversion Project
The City of Pembroke Pines is embarking on the second phase of a utilities improvement project in the Pines Village neighborhood. Specifically, the project will involve replacement of the existing water main and residential service lines that have reached the end of their useful lives, with new mains and lines, replacing existing water meters, and relocating the meters to the front yards for those residents that currently have meters in the rear of their property. This will result in better water pressure, quality, and flow to your house; fewer service interruptions from pipe breaks; and improved fire protection.
Additionally, for residents in the north-central portion of the project area that are currently on septic tanks, new sewer mains and service lines will be constructed and extended to your property. Portions of this project will require work on private property, including installation of new plumbing in the yard, new water meters and check valves, and a new house pressure relief valve at each residence to comply with the plumbing code. For the properties to be served by the new sewer system, there may also be work to be done on the private property depending on how you elect to connect to the new sewer system (more on that below). The work on private property will require the consent of the property owner to allow City contractors to access the property. In order to accomplish that, property owners will need to sign and return a Right of Entry form. The work is expected to start in August 2022 and is expected to take 24 months to finish (barring any unforeseen delays). The work will generally be performed weekdays, Monday-Friday, between 7:00 AM and 6:00 PM.
Streets, sidewalks, driveways, and easements may be affected by this work. Your cooperation in allowing construction crews to perform this necessary work is needed and appreciated.
Paint markings may be utilized to identify existing underground utilities and the extent of repairs. These markings may precede the work by up to ten (10) days.
This work will be performed by Foster Marine Contractors, Inc. and Line Tec Utility Contractors, and monitored by Kimley-Horn Engineers. The contractors will make every effort to minimize the inconveniences associated with heavy construction and, when the project is complete, the streets will be completely resurfaced with new asphalt and anything that was damaged will be restored.
